When You Arrive at the Test Location . . . . |

- Arrive early and avoid distraction.
- Begin your relaxation exercises.
- Focus your mind on the exam in front of you.
- Write your name on the exam and survey the entire test to see what is ahead.
- Allot time. Calculate how many minutes you wish to spend on each section based on the point values of those sections. If you get done early, use that time to revisit a difficult area.
- Mark up the directions. Underline all the key facts in the directions to make sure nothing is overlooked.
- Pick up easy points! Answer all the easy test items and familiar questions first; then pick up the difficult ones. Answer ALL test questions.
- Ask for help if you are unsure of test directions or questions. The instructor will not provide you with informational answers, but he or she may be willing to clarify certain points.
- Trust the instructor. Focus on what is actually stated rather than what you infer.
- Proof your answers! Spend the last few moments skimming your exam to be sure you have followed directions and answered all questions. Proofread and check organization and punctuation on essay exams. DO NOT change an answer unless you understand why you are making the correction.
