This program is designed to bolster efforts
to recruit American Indian students into nursing,
and is funded by the Department of Health and
Human Services' Bureau of Health Professionals
Nursing Workforce Diversity program. This new
grant builds and extends the reach of our already
successful recruitment and retention of American
Indians into Nursing (RAIN) program to help
address the growing nutritional nursing shortage,
particularly concerning reservation communities.
New activities funded by the WIND grant include
hosting a week long pre-semester orientation
for new and transfer students, hiring a partime
science mentor, providing travel funds for students,
and a new focus on the recruitment of master's
and doctorial students, as well as continuing
to recruit undergraduate students.
