Lecturer Nicole Derenne has taught art history at the University of North Dakota since 2003. In addition to her adjunct teaching position at UND, Derenne is also the Executive Director of the North Valley Arts Council, an organization that serves arts communities in North Dakota and western Minnestota. She received her BA in Biology from Alverno College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and her MA in Art History from the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.
Derenne explores the properties of light, color, and texture in her abstract and figurative compositions. She creates work that reflects her experiences in the workforce, her new experiences as a parent, and the balancing act required to sustain these roles.
