Lecturer Jennifer Nelson has taught drawing at the University of North Dakota since 2003. She received her BFA from Minnesota State University – Mankato, and her MFA from The University of North Dakota.

Nelson’s intentions as an artist are to comment on our current culture and to add to the dialogue of contemporary art. Currently, she is creating work that explores the restrictions and comfort one experiences as a result of belonging to a particular group. The imagery employed has taken the form of schemata of adjustable jewelry – defined by the apparent application to the human body – in order to create a subject that is personal in its attachment to an individual. In the future, Nelson plans to continue her exploration of the personal interactions we experience with each other and our environment.
