Through participation in the departmental graduate student association, graduate students play an active and positive role in the determination of departmental policies and decisions. The association nominates students to serve on departmental committees and attend faculty meetings, sponsors intramural athletic teams, holds social events such as picnics and cross-country ski weekends, and helps the faculty keep abreast of problems faced by graduate students.
