The Chemistry Department at the University of North Dakota offers degrees and has research programs in the four traditional divisions of chemistry:
Analytical, Inorganic, Organic, and Physical.
The Department is housed in Abbott Hall (see picture above), a 77,000 square foot building built in 1961, added to in 1992, and completely renovated in 1998. It is named after Dr. George Abbott, first professional chemist at the University of North Dakota, who served as first chairman of the Department of Chemistry from 1910 to 1947.
