Individual career counseling is available for students seeking assistance in choosing a major and exploring career options. This service is staffed by professional counselors and advanced counseling graduate students to help you in your career decision-making process.
Your career counselor will help you clarify interests and skills, explore college majors, examine career options and assist in your evaluation of potential graduate and professional schools. Career counseling is a resource for the "undecided" as well as the "very focused" student.
The goal of career counseling is to help strengthen confidence, produce new understandings, develop decision-making skills and strategies, and increase the student's ability to move ahead with life plans related to career and educational goals.
It is not the purpose of career counseling to choose careers for students, suggest majors, and indicate what courses to take or provide academic advising.
Rather, assistance in examining career options in light of an individual's values, skills, and interests is provided as well as help in gathering information and researching relevant occupational choices.
Individual career counseling is available, free of charge (except for optional testing fees) to all University of North Dakota students. Call 777-2127 to schedule and appointment with a career counselor.
