Graduate Service Assistants
'

To be eligible for a Graduate Service Assistantship within the University Counseling Center, applicants must be at least third-year doctoral students in Counseling or Clinical Psychology and be in good standing within their department. In addition:

  • It is preferable that the applicants have training and/or experiences in psychological theory, clinical methods, group counseling/therapy, use of the MMPI-2 or other psychological tests, marriage and family therapy, and multicultural counseling.
  • To prevent dual relationship issues, there must be a minimum of two years elapsed since last receiving counseling/therapy at the University Counseling Center.
  • Applicants must have a record free from any criminal or ethical violations or grievance that would suggest a risk to mental health clients, and be free from any psychological impairment precluding an ability to provide mental health services.

Graduate Service Assistants employed at the University Counseling Center will be assigned the following activities - and time devoted to each.

2) Case Conference 1
3) On-Call Crisis Hours 2 - 3
4) Training Seminar 2
5) Supervision Preparation 1
6) Individual Supervision 2 - 3
7) Paperwork/Professional Reading 1
8) Intern Meeting 1
9) Cofacilitation of Group Therapy & Supervision 4 - 6*
10) UCC Outreach Programs 1
 
Total Hours
18 - 20
*Hours may vary.
