Getting Started

While your student is being advised, registering for courses and getting acquainted with the UND campus…families are invited to prepare as well for the college transition in our Family Getting Started Program. Our family program is presented separately from our students' program.

It is designed to help you understand some of the life changes your student will experience as a new college student and some of the personal choices they may be confronted with making. We will provide you with information on the wide variety of educational and developmental opportunities available to them at UND. We will share information on academic support services, campus safety, housing options, meal plans, and the supportive services available on campus and in the community

During Getting Started, UND orientation begins and course registration occurs. Additionally, families engage in meaningful conversation about their direct impact on the success of their student. Most students attend Getting Started with their families.
