The Department of Theatre Arts at the University of North Dakota is recognized as a leading program of the theatre arts for the state, and indeed for most of the region. The Department achieved National Accreditation in 1986, an honor it continues to hold. The diversified and highly qualified faculty includes experts skilled in acting, directing, design, playwriting, history and literature.

Theatre Arts is housed in the College of Arts and Sciences which supports the B.F.A pre- professional theatre training program as well as the B.A. liberal arts degree.

The University of North Dakota is a major residential university located on a 570-ace campus in Grand Forks, a classic college town in the heart of the Red River Valley, one of the riches farming areas in the world. Greater Grand Forks, with a population of 60,000, has a quality of life ranked among the top in the nation. With about 12,000 students (approximately 10,000 undergraduate, 1,600 graduate, and 450 professional student in law and medicine), UND is the oldest and most diversified institutions of higher education in the Dakotas, Montana, Wyoming, and Western Minnesota. The state’s only law and medical degree program are located at UND. The University provides approximately 150 fields of study as well as a variety of academic, social and cultural services and activities.
