1st Annual EHD Research Fair
On April 13, 2007 , the first college-wide Research Fair was held in conjunction with the EHD Spring Meeting. Thirty posters were submitted for the Fair, covering diverse topics, such as “ Love, laughter, and lessons: What a canine brought to a classroom for students with emotional disorders”, “ Effects of a carbohydrate supplement on affect in college swimmers”, and “ Personality traits of individuals who oppose same-sex marriage: A closer look at prejudiced attitudes”, to name just a few. A full listing of Poster Abstracts provides a glimpse of the range of interests represented among faculty and students of EHD.
Outstanding Achievement in Scholarship by an Individual Faculty Member Dr. Sandra Short, PEXS, is the 2007 recipient of the Outstanding Achievement in Scholarship award. Dr. Short has an excellent record of scholarship. Her CV includes 28 refereed articles, 16 of which have been published in the last 3 years, as well as 6 book chapters and 1 book forthcoming
The nominator's letter noted:
“In her 8 years at UND, Sandra has left her mark on those she has come into contact with (students, coaches and fellow faculty). Her scholarly work continues to expand and seek answers to previously unexplored questions. She exhibits a passion and commitment to her scholarly pursuits and to her students…[Further]… she is a leader (a cited research scholar) in her area of expertise…..[she is] worthy and deserving recipient of this award.”
It was a pleasure to present the 2007 Award for Outstanding Achievement in Scholarship to a colleague who makes an exceptional contribution to the College scholarship agenda.
