CEHD Awards Alumni
The College of Education and Human Development celebrated the success of seven outstanding alumni during the College's first Alumni Achievement Awards Banquet this past fall. New Course Allows Students to Learn and Work as Teams
UND students will be better prepared to jump into their professions thanks to a new course at UND. The Interprofessional Health Care Course has been in the works for two years and welcomed its first group of students in January. The course encourages partnerships from four of the colleges at UND. The College of Education and Human Development, along with School of Medicine and Health Sciences, College of Nursing , and College of Arts and Sciences, are excited with the joint effort.

The Art of Changing the Brain
"The Art of Changing the Brain: Successful Teaching in Higher Education" was the keynote address Dr. James E. Zull gave for the first Fischer Endowment Lecture Series at UND in January. The Fischer Endowment Lecture Series is sponsored by the College of Education and Human Development and the Rose Isabelle Kelly Fischer Endowment through the UND Foundation.

Nickname Issue Allows for Open Discussion on Campus
UND's nickname, Fighting Sioux, has been surrounded by controversary for over 30 years. Ever since that day, last August, when the NCAA Executive committee "adopted a new policy to prohibit NCAA colleges and universities from displaying hostile and abusive racial/ethnic/national origin mascots, nicknames or imagery at any of the 88 NCAA championships," the controversy has raged on: through two appeals and we are currently awaiting a decision regarding the second appeal.

The College of Education & Human Development has partnered with the Division of Continuing Education to bring distance education programs that you can use for professional development and to advance your career-even if you no longer live in Grand Forks . These programs are offered online, face-to-face in Fargo and Bismarck, or through video-conferencing so you can earn your advanced degree or graduate credit from UND without leaving your job or family.
