In May the campus was buzzing with alumni from all over the country to celebrate UND's Alumni Days. Alumni Days is a three-day celebration on the UND campus. It's a wonderful opportunity to rekindle friendships, relive campus days and enjoy North Dakota hospitality. Each year the classes celebrating their 65th, 60th, 55th, 50th, and 45th, reunions are featured.

Gillette HallSocial Work Education at a Distance is a "Breeze"
Through the use of technology and a "classroom in a box," UND's Department of Social Work is training social workers across state lines. For the first time, the department delivers the Master of Social Work (MSW) program online to students at a distance.

When Grace Onchwari visited the University of North Dakota last March for an onsite interview, she knew she wanted to stay. North Dakota was part of the United States she hadn't seen and her interest pulled her toward the state, despite its harsh winter climate - a far cry from her upbringing in tropical Nairobi, Kenya. UCC logoThe University Children's Center Is Important To Our Students
The University's Children's Center (UCC) plays an important role in assuring our students receive the best education, training and field experience in the area of education. All early childhood education majors utilize the Center for several semesters of their undergraduate work, completing observations, field experiences and other course assignments related to their academic studies. Their student teaching experience is completed at the Center, with students majoring in early childhood education student teaching for an entire semester.

Online Training Improves Access to Counseling in Rural Areas
When people in rural North Dakota need treatment for depression, addiction, or other conditions, it's often difficult to find. In the face of challenges such as dwindling populations and economic difficulties, many communities cannot offer mental health services even though the need for them is rising.

More Than Beads and Feathers PosterMore Than Beads and Feathers
A new poster campaign, "More Than Beads and Feathers," generates awareness of UND's American Indian graduates as professionals in a variety of fields. Two of our graduates, Twyla Baker-Demaray, '05, and Patricia Walking Eagle, '92, are featured in the campaign and were honored this past April during a special program, A Celebration of Achievements: American Indian Graduates of UND.

Student with BooksWant To Earn Your Master's in Reading Education at a Distance?
Are you interested in earning your Master's in Reading Education at a distance? The degree program is currently offered on-campus by the UND Department of Teaching and Learning. The program is designed for educators or other professionals interested in the study of individual readers and writers and reading/language arts curriculum and assessment. This unique program engages you in teaching literacy through a supervised practicum experience.
