The College has evolved over nearly 125 years, with humble beginnings as a Normal School. Today, there are six departments, over 60 full-time faculty and nearly 1500 students that comprise the College of Education and Human Development. But do you know what we do and what degrees we offer?
Here is a breakdown of degrees by departments.
The biggest department is Teaching and Learning , chaired by Dr. Glenn Olsen. A variety of degrees and majors are available through this department. Bachelor degrees include:

A Ph.D. or an Ed.D is available in Teaching and Learning.
The Department of Educational Foundations and Research cooperates with the Department of Teaching and Learning in offering an M.S. in Education/General Studies and doctoral work in Teaching and Learning with an emphasis in research methodologies. The department is chaired by Dr. Kathleen Gershman.
The Department of Educational Leadership offers advanced degrees. Two degrees are offered at the master's level; a M.S. or an M.Ed. Two degrees are offered at the doctoral level; a Ph.D. or an Ed.D. The department chair is Dr. Margaret Healy.
The Department of Physical Education, Exercise Science and Wellness offers a bachelor degree in Physical Education and a master's degree in Kinesiology. The department is chair by new faculty member, Dr. Dennis Caine.
The Department of Social Work offers both bachelor's and master's degrees in Social Work. Thomasine Heitkamp is the department chair.
The Department of Counseling Psychology and Community Services , chaired by Dr. Michael Loewy, offers bachelor degrees in Recreational and Leisure Services and Rehabilitation and Human Services. The department also offers a master degree in Counseling and a doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology.
