Dear Prospective Student:
If you are considering a major in one of the programs in the College of Education and Human Development, I encourage you to participate in the Integrated Studies Program in your first year at the University of North Dakota.
The Integrated Studies Program (ISP) offers student-centered, discussion-style classes that meet the general education requirements (required for all majors). ISP is an interdisciplinary learning community in which you take your academic work with the same faculty and the same students for the full semester. The curriculum is organized around a theme that actually integrates the learning rather than a patchwork of unrelated courses. Close contact with faculty and the other students is one of the several benefits of this program. The program also focuses on writing, discussion, and critical thinking skills that are of great benefit to students. At the end of the academic year you will have earned 31 of the total 39 required general education credits.
I am enthusiastic about this program and the extent to which students build lasting relationships, learn essential knowledge and skills, and report high levels of satisfaction with this experience. For more information, visit the IS Website at: www.und.edu/dept/integr8/ispmain.htm
