MSS Director: MC Diop
'


Dr. Matsimela Changa Diop is the Director of Multicultural Student Services (MSS), during his tenure at the University of North Dakota (UND) he served as Advisor to the Student Relations Committee, Upward Bound Director and Coordinator of the National Student Exchange Program. He presently supervises the activities and programs presented in the Era Bell Thompson Multicultural Center, while serving as the university’s point person for diversity and multiculturalism.

 

Dr. Diop, while serving as Director of Multicultural Student Services at the UND developed and implemented the MSS Peer Mentoring Program. This program has been recognized by the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) as an exemplary program and guide for the retention and mentoring of under-represented and economically disadvantage student populations.

Previously, he was the Director of Student Resources and Counseling Services at Mohawk Valley Community College.  There, he supervised all Counseling Services, the Office of Multicultural Resources, the colleges’ retention efforts, the Substance Abuse Center, and the Office for Services to Students with Disabilities.

Dr. Diop received his master’s and undergraduate degrees from the University of Wisconsin – Lacrosse.  During his 20 Plus years in higher education, Diop made numerous presentations, taught courses on race and ethnicity, wrote grants for the improvement and enhancement of university cultures and climates. Through his national and international involvement, Dr. Diop has communicated and interacted with some of the most influential people nationally and internationally.

Dr. Diop completed his doctorate degree in Teaching and Learning with an emphasis in Higher Education Administration at the University of North Dakota. He also has recently completed his course requirements for a degree in General Studies with an emphasis in Communication.
