Financial aid is awarded on the basis of "financial
need" which is the "total family contribution" subtracted from the
"estimated costs for the academic year".
The "total family contribution" is calculated
from the information on your FAFSA such as family income, family assets, student's income
and student's assets. - EFC Estimator
"Estimated costs for the academic year"
include tuition, fees, room, board, books, supplies and other educational expenses. - UND Cost Information

UND scholarships, Federal Nursing Loans, Federal Perkins
Loans, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (SEOG) and Federal Work Study
funds are awarded for the school year during the initial award process. These programs
also are awarded based on priority deadlines.
After the FAFSA has been processed by the
central processing center (usually 7-10 days after electronically submitting the
FAFSA), the student will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR).
You can check the processing status of
your FAFSA or request a duplicate Student Aid Report (SAR) at
FAFSA
on the Web, or you can call 1-800-4
FED AID (1-800-433-3243).
Need to make a correction to your FAFSA?
Corrections on the
Web allows you to make changes to all information except your social
security number and date of birth.
You can also call 1-800-4 FED AID
(1-800-433-3243) to use an automated system or 1-319-337-5665 to speak to someone in
person.
You must have a PIN in order to access your
record.
All students whose files are complete will receive an
award notice to their University e-mail account (U-Mail) concerning financial aid
by early summer. If a student has not
received a notice by July 1st, the student should check with the UND Student Financial Aid
Office.
Do not misconstrue an award offer as acceptance of
admission or a guarantee of University housing. Recipients of financial aid must accept or
reject the aid within 30 days after receiving notice of the award.
