The following information reflects financial aid policies
effective for Fall 2007 enrollments. However, changes may occur in future
semesters. Open-Enrollment Correspondence students should identify themselves as
such when contacting the Student Financial Aid Office.
Who is Eligible to Apply for Federal
or State Financial Aid?
Open-Enrollment Correspondence courses (mail or
online) are NOT
eligible for federal or state financial aid consideration.
Open-Enrollment Correspondence courses (mail or
online) are NOT eligible for UND scholarships or the Cultural Diversity Tuition
Waiver.
Students enrolled exclusively in open-enrollment correspondence courses
(mail or online) for a term are only eligible to apply for
Alternative
Education Loans.
Alternative education
loans will be processed and disbursed based on the semester that is active
at the time of registration.
Students enrolled in a combination of semester-based
courses and open-enrollment correspondence coursework will have only the
semester-based course enrollment considered for federal or state financial aid
programs.
Important Notes for Students Taking
Semester-Based Courses:
Dropping all semester-based courses to enroll in open-enrollment correspondence
courses is not considered to be a “withdrawal”, instead those courses are
considered “dropped”.
If you are planning to drop all semester-based courses to enroll in
open-enrollment correspondence, you should add at least one open-enrollment correspondence course before
dropping your last semester-based course. Otherwise, any withdrawal
refund received must be repaid prior to registration in the open-enrollment correspondence course(s).
There is no refund for semester-based courses dropped after the 100%
refund period has ended.
If you withdraw from all semester-based courses and have a return of
financial aid funds processed and subsequently enroll in open-enrollment correspondence courses,
you will NOT have your financial aid eligibility recalculated based on your
open-enrollment correspondence course enrollment.
