Stafford Loan Award Limits

 

Annual Loan Limits

The amount borrowed cannot exceed the cost of attendance and/or the following annual loan limits (effective 7/1/08):

Sophomore

Aggregate Loan Limits

A student is eligible for a new loan maximum every academic year up to the following aggregate loan limits (effective 7/1/08):

Grade Level  Subsidized Total Subsidized & Unsubsidized
Dependent Undergraduate $23,000 $31,000
Independent Undergraduate $23,000 $57,500
Graduate/Professional $65,500 $138,500

An academic year at UND is defined as the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters.

Dependent students whose parents cannot borrow a Federal PLUS loan are eligible to borrow up to the independent undergraduate limits.  Students must provide documentation of the PLUS loan denial to the Student Financial Aid Office.
