Student Financial Aid > Study Abroad

Students interested in financial aid for studying abroad must first work with the Office of International Programs.

If you have already applied for or are receiving financial aid, you may be eligible for additional financial assistance. Because study abroad is more expensive, you may want to submit to our office a copy of the letter from the Assistant Director for Education Abroad itemizing your expenses.  It is also recommended that you speak with a financial aid advisor or administrator to determine if you would have any additional eligibility if you appeal.

It is important to note that the additional eligibility in almost all cases is only in the form of Federal Stafford Loans, Parent PLUS Loans, or Alternative Education Loans. Grants are awarded on the basis of a student's (and parents') ability to contribute, not the cost of education. It is only your budget that could be changed by studying abroad.
