Advanced pay –
Available upon request. In order to receive advance pay, you must apply at least
30 days before the first day of classes.
Tutoring –
Tutoring is available, if needed, up to $600.00. If you need tutoring, please
come to the Veteran Services Office to pick up the appropriate forms.
"U"
Grades
- The VA will not credit a course toward your enrollment status if the final
grade is a "U". This can lead to an overpayment situation at the end of a
semester.
"I"
Grades
– If an "I" grade is not made up within one year, the VA will deduct those
credits from your enrollment status for that term and an overpayment situation
may result.
Dropping a Course
– If
you drop a course during the semester, the VA may consider the drop retroactive
to the start of the semester/course. If this changes your enrollment status, an
overpayment situation may occur. However, the VA will allow a student to drop
up to a maximum of six credits one time only without having an
overpayment situation occur.
Part-
Term Courses
– The VA will count part-term courses toward your enrollment status only
while that course is actually in session.
Audited
Courses
– You cannot be certified/draw benefits for an audited course.
Repeating a Course
– The VA will not pay for and we cannot certify you for a repeat of a course if
the original grade was a "D" unless the course is specifically required.
If this requirement is not listed in the catalog, we will require a letter from
your department/advisor verifying this requirement. (We have form letters
available for this purpose.) THE VA WILL NOT PAY FOR YOU TO REPEAT A "D" GRADE
OR HIGHER, IN ORDER TO RAISE YOUR GPA.
Independent Study
– During a regular semester independent study can be counted toward your
enrollment status. (It is best to check with us on this as other criteria also
apply.) Correspondence classes can only be certified for a 4-month period.
Unsatisfactory Progress
– You must maintain satisfactory progress in order to continue receiving your
benefits. The VA will terminate your benefits when probationary status
continues past two semesters or when you are dismissed. At this time,
reinstatement by the University is all that is required for us to recertify you
for benefits.
Work-Study
– Students under all chapters are eligible to apply for VA work-study
positions. You must be enrolled at least ¾ time and drawing your benefits.
Less
Then Half Time
– Veterans and service persons training at less than half time will be paid only
tuition and fees for the entire term.
Miscellaneous
– Classes with hours by arrangement, internship, etc. may all require additional
information from your department before we can complete the certification
process. We have forms available for this purpose.
Changing Majors –
If you are changing your major, please stop by the Veteran Services Office to
fill out the Change of Program form, 22-1995(22-5495 for Chapter 35 recipients)
or download the form from
http://www.gibill.va.gov/ and drop it off in the Veteran Services Office.
Changing Schools
– If you are transferring either to UND or from UND to another school and are
already receiving your benefits; you need to fill out a Change of Program or
Place of Training form ,(22-1995), (22-5495 for Chapter 35 recipients). This
can be picked up at the Veteran Services Office or downloaded from
http://www.gibill.va.gov/. Drop this form off at whichever school you are
transferring your benefits too.
Tuition/Fee Late Payment Penalty
- beginning Spring Semester 2008:
- No late fee will be charged to a
returning service member their first semester back at UND.
- No late fee will be charged to a
student who is using Veterans Educational Benefits to pay
tuition and fees.
