Proxy Information

Connecting Off Campus: ISP

If you access the Internet using an ISP (Internet Service Provider) other than UND, you will need to identify yourself as an authorized user of restricted UND resources (e.g. subscription library databases, funding opportunities). To do this:

STEP 1: Activate your U-Mail account

To identify yourself as a UND student, faculty member or staff member, you will need to provide your U-Mail username and password. If you have not yet activated your U-mail account, visit the ITSS E-mail Information page: http://www.und.nodak.edu/dept/itss/email.html

STEP 2: Configure a proxy server for your web browser

In order to connect to the server that will ask you for your username and password, you must configure your web browser. Proxy services are only needed when using one of the restricted UND resources (e.g. subscription library databases, funding opportunities). Turn off proxy services when using other Internet services.

STEP 3: Authenticate to the Proxy Server

Go to a web page (enter a URL, choose a bookmark etc.). The Welcome to UND Proxy Server message will display.

Enter your U-mail username (the part before the @, e.g. joe.doe) and U-mail password.

Click OK.

The web page you are trying to access should display.
