U-mail Quotas

Each person with an address on U-mail has a certain amount of space to store messages & attachments, otherwise known as their quota. The U-mail quotas are set at 42MB. E-mail messages themselves are quite small, typically it's attachments that cause the problem. You will be notified via e-mail messages when you start to approach your quota and on a frequent basis once you've exceeded your quota.  If you are getting these quota messages, the only way to stop them and to assure that your e-mail is working properly, is to free up space by deleting messages/attachments. If you need to retain attachments etc., they can be saved to a local disk/diskette.

To check on how much space you are using, log onto the Web Access for U-mail at http://und.nodak.edu. Select Options, and Account Summary. The total quota and how much you are using is listed, for example:

Your system administrator may limit the amount of disk space available for mail storage.

Your mailbox disk quota is: 42MB
Your current disk consumption is: 6.4MB

Be sure to Empty the Trash!
Typically, removing messages is a two-step process.
Step 1: Delete the message
Step 2: Empty the trash

If you use Web Access for U-mail, once you have deleted messages, you need to select Folders and then Empty Trash.
