Chinese Studies

Colleen Berry Merrifield 319 701-777-4661 Profile

THE PROGRAM IN CHINESE STUDIES provides students across campus with a formal, structured, multidisciplinary approach to the study of China and China’s national language, Mandarin. The courses offered include history, language, film, literature, geography, religion, economy, and other aspects of Chinese culture as well as cross-cultural communication and business skills. From its inception with the Minor in Chinese Studies: Culture and Business through the College of Business and Public Administration, the program has grown considerably and now students at UND also have the option of choosing a Major in Chinese Studies or a Minor in Chinese Studies: Language and Culture, both through the Languages Department. In addition to the on-campus courses, there are also semester-long language or internship study abroad opportunities. In May of each year, a three and a half week trip to China through the Chinese Studies: Summer Study Abroad program is open to interested students.
