Catalog electronic resources for the significant aspect of the content, rather than their physical form. Materials coded for Type of record as "m" are: computer software (including programs, games, fonts), numeric data, computer-oriented multimedia, and online systems or services. Other classes of electronic resources are coded for their most significant aspect (eg. language materials, graphic, cartographic material, sound, music, moving image). In case of doubt or if the most significant aspect cannot be determined, consider the item a computer file. For serials follow CONSER guidelines.

MA
240UNIFORM TITLE

247 01 [former title] $g (varies slightly)
MA (R)

E.g. Electronic data (1 file : 2.5 gb)
O - Library of Congress is omiting this field
260PUBLICATION, DISTRIBUTION, ETC.
Consider all internet resources to be published.
Publisher can longer be abbreviated, e.g. "The Dept."; it must be transcribed as on the item.

MA #a #b;
M #c
(R)
300PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Remote files receive no description.
Use this only for direct access items. E.g.
1 computer optical disc : col.
Or, may use common term, e.g.
1 CD-ROM
MA
[Chpt.9 revision: a) optionally, [for cartographic materials], use terms in subrule _.5B of relevant chapter or if none appropriate, use conventional terminology. eg. 184 remote-sensing images; ca. (19 mb) on 1 CD-ROM; or b) record terms in 3.5B in addition to the specific material designation, e.g. remote: 1 digital photo (tiff) or 32 p. : digital, PDF file
See: http://www.gpo.gov/su_docs/fdlp/cip/marc_field_300_91905.pdf

Indicator 1 = 0 only when start date is known.
Indicator 1 = 1 when beginning coverage is unclear,
example: Coverage as of Oct. 12, 1998:
v. 39, no. 3 (July 1998)-
MA,R
Online version of print has 362 matching the print. May also add 362 1 with coverage information. For serials born digital, only one 362 is needed.

M
See on OLAC site, under CAPC: Source of Title Note for Internet Resources http://www.olacinc.org/, or
Notes
500Source of title/Description based on [Serials]
Give also, in new records, the date viewed in parentheses following the source of title per LCRI 12.7B3, because the title may not appear on individual issues and the information may be susceptible to change.
