Some small scholarships (generally around $300-600) are available each summer from SIL-UND,
including a special program for advanced study of community-based literacy.
Most scholarships are awarded to students based on financial need,
academic record, and goals.
They are announced after the beginning of the summer session
and are applied to a student's fees and expenses.
Students interested in these scholarships should submit their
initial (stage 1) application to SIL-UND
by March 15
and complete their application by April 1
(submitting stage 2 of the application with payment of the application fee).
Those who meet this deadline will be sent a scholarship application form in early April
which focuses especially on documenting their financial need.
Tuition waivers for SIL courses are awarded routinely to students pursuing
an M.A. in linguistics at UND
for their final seven credits of enrollment.
Students who have arranged for financial aid from other sources can often apply it to SIL courses.
For example, Americorps vouchers and GI Bill benefits can be used.
FAFSA aid can normally be used
if you are currently in a degree program at UND or another school.
For assistance in making the necessary arrangements, contact the
SIL-UND Director.
