Developmental
Leave Travel and Materials Awards
Faculty who plan to spend all or part of their developmental leave working on projects directly related to new course or enhanced curriculum development may apply for Developmental Leave Travel and Materials Awards to defray non-salary costs related to their projects. Funding is limited to a maximum of $2000 per semester of leave.
Projects must be directly related to teaching or pedagogy. For example they would involve:
- doing research on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) in your field,
- participating in a teaching-related workshop, where the faculty member will learn new techniques or approaches that can be brought back to specific classes at UND,
- learning about new and innovative ways of teaching one's subject, OR
- developing a new course based on work done during the leave
Proposal Format
Proposals should be clear, complete & well organized with the following four sections (in this order):
I. A cover
sheet found here. Please copy the template from our website and paste it into your word processing program, then enter the information and print it from your computer.
II. A copy of the approved leave project and a memo calling attention to those aspects of the
project that are directly related to teaching.
III. A copy of the letter notifying you that the leave has been approved by the Provost.
IV. An itemized budget, listing the following:
- costs related to the project
- amounts received from other sources
- amount you are requesting from OID
|
Send or bring the application to: The Office of Instructional Development, O'Kelly 300, Stop 7104. One copy is sufficient. Developmental
Leave Travel and Materials Award requests may be made any time after the leave has been approved by the Provost. Because these funds are limited, however, it is best to apply as early as possible.
Final Reports
Developmental
Leave Travel and Materials Award recipients are asked to file a final
report on their grant activity after the funds
have been spent. Final reports are generally
due within six months of notification. However,
if the faculty member is applying for another
grant, the report must be filed before the
new grant proposal can be acted on. Click here for Final Report Guidelines.
