In 2000, a team of ten faculty members embarked
on a longitudinal study of student perceptions
of the the cross-disciplinary goals of the
UND General Education Program. Although there
are a number of possible techniques for assessing
student learning, this project is designed
specifically to elicit, over time, student
perspectives on how and what they learn. The
study is currently in its fifth year, and
although there are additional data yet to
be gathered, the report is an attempt to interpret
the first four years of work by the Study
Team so that those considering changes in
the General Education Program can use the
findings of the study to date.
