Global Student Teaching (GST) offers prospective
teachers the opportunity to complete student teaching
requirements in several regions of the world.
GST expands the range of student teaching options
and offers a unique opportunity for prospective teachers
to develop their teaching abilities and expand their
cultural awareness.
GST
is offered by College
of Continuing Education at the University
of Minnesota, Morris , a public liberal arts institution
with a nationally recognized reputation for excellence.
The University of Minnesota, Morris is accredited
by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher
Education and the North Central Association of Colleges
and Schools.
When:
Northern hemisphere September to June, Southern
hemisphere February to December.
Where: Over 38 countries on all
continents including Africa; Central, East and Southeast
Asia; Western and Eastern Europe; and Central and
South America.
Application: Applications should
be received early in the semester prior to student
teaching.
Admission: Selection is based on
assessment of academic record (minimum GPA of 3.0
is highly recommended) and recommendation by the
student’s teacher education faculty.
Expenses: Costs include application,
tuition and insurance fees; transportation to placement
site; housing; food and personal expenses such as
passport, sightseeing, etc.
Housing: Host schools assist students
in finding accommodation usually a home stay with
a family.
Financing: Students from UND can
arrange to use financial aid for GST expenses.
UND placements are for a
minimum of 12 weeks and 12 semester credits
