The ESTO (ESpañol en TOledo) Study Abroad Program

The University of Castilla La Mancha invites students from multiple disciplines to study Spanish in Toledo, Spain. Open to students at the intermediate to advanced level in Spanish, this program offers an excellent opportunity to improve skills in the language and to learn about the multi-faceted culture of this fascinating country.

Location

Toledo is steeped in the architecture, art, and atmosphere of medieval Spain: the Jewish, Moorish, and Christian quarters of the city retain their ancient dimensions and atmospheres while maintaining the lived-in quality of every day life. At the same time, there is a dynamic new section of town that promises a taste of modern Spanish life.

Madrid, only an hour away, houses the national treasures of the Prado, the Palacio Real, among many monuments. Great shopping and other alluring places and activities can be found in the city center. Madrid provides easy access to an international airport and railway system, and is also the hub for regional rail and bus travel.

Program Attraction

ESTO’s intensive language program welcomes students who have completed the equivalent of UND’s Spanish 202. Many of the 300 level Spanish courses required for a Spanish major or minor at UND are offered through the ESTO program, thus the process of credit transfer is almost automatic. Also courses are available for the linguistically advanced student at the University of Castilla La Mancha-Toledo in the Humanities, Education, and Business. All courses are taught in Spanish. Students will be pleased to discover that the university facilities are splendid.
