Cindy Anderson, assistant professor of nursing, and Carie Braun, a professor at the College of St. Benedict, co-authored a recently published a pathophysiology textbook titled Pathophysiology: Functional Alterations and Human Health, published by Lippincott, Williams and Wilkins.
Mary Markland, librarian for the Southwest Campus of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences, was voted chair-elect of the Midwest Chapter of the Medical Library Association.
Jan Stube, associate professor of
occupational therapy, was named a “Fellow of the American Occupational Therapy Association for Commitment to Excellence and Teaching and Service of the Profession.”
Mary Ann Sens, chair of the Department of Pathology, was appointed to a threeyear term on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Medical Examiners at its annual meeting in San Antonio this past year.
Holly Brown-Borg, associate professor
of pharmacology, physiology, and therapeutics, was awarded “Fellow” status by the Gerontological Society of America.
Tom Mohr, professor of physical therapy and department chair, was appointed a commissioner on the panel that accredits physical therapy programs nationwide. The UND program was recently reaccredited for 10 years by the national agency.
Dennis Elbert, dean of the College of Business and Public Administration, was named to the pre-accreditation committee of the American Association of Collegiate Schools of Business International.
Steve Dennis joined the College of Business and Public Administration as the Aarestad Endowed Chair of Banking, Department of Finance, in August 2006.
Albert Berger, associate professor of history, served as vice president of the State Historical Society of North Dakota this past year, and will serve as president this year.

Tim Bigelow, assistant professor of electrical engineering, received a prestigious five-year National Science Foundation CAREER grant.
Kathleen Dixon, professor of English, recently completed a year-long Fulbright professorship for study and teaching in Greece, Turkey, and Bulgaria.
Kim Donehower-Weinstein, associate professor of English, recently had her book Rural Literacies published.
Last year, Vadim Rygalov and Pablo de Leon of UND’s Department of Space Studies organized a tour of Russian space facilities near Moscow for students in their department and other UND departments.
The School of Engineering and Mines has seen an increase in enrollment at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as in its unique distance engineering degree program. Over 600 middle school students attended the School’s open house this year.
Phil Harmeson, who has served for a number of years as the senior associate to the president, was elevated to the rank of vice president for general administration. In this capacity, he has both Athletics and the Office of Affirmative Action reporting directly to him. Harmeson also continues in his role as the University’s political liaison to the North Dakota Legislative Assembly and other branches of state government.
H. David Wilson, dean of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences and vice president for health affairs, was voted chair-elect of the Council of Deans of all of America’s medical colleges at the AAMC annual meeting in October 2006. He assumed the duties of chair of the Council of Deans this fall. |
