General Support Programs

The Wellness Center officially launched the University’s Worksite Wellness program, “Work Well,” for all benefited employees in January this past year. Work Well provides a variety of opportunities at the worksite for employees to take steps toward a healthy lifestyle.

The University’s Counseling Center has developed a self-help group called “Been There; Done That,” for students seeking a chemical-free lifestyle.

Dining Services received the Loyal E. Horton Gold Award from the National Association of College and University Food Services for a special themed dinner event, “Taste of India,” educating students about Indian food.

Although UND’s third-week enrollment dropped by a fraction of one percent, enrollment in the summer of 2007 increased almost four percent from the previous year, with a total of 4,626 students enrolled in summer programming.

The first annual Deans’ Bus Tour of North Dakota covered the north and western portions of the state. Since then, we’ve followed up on several recommendations received during the tour, including the development of the specialization in petroleum engineering.

Academic Affairs presented a North Dakota showcase in July to representatives from community colleges in the greater Seattle area, hosting seven teachers and administrators from six Seattle-area community colleges.

UND’s Student Health Services achieved accreditation by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, underscoring a long-standing commitment to providing the highest possible level of quality care to the University community.

This past year, the Office of University Relations and the campus won seven awards at the annual CASE District VI conference in Kansas City: three gold, two silver, and two bronze awards for print and electronic communication.

Wellness Center

More than 90 percent of UND students have visited or used the new Wellness Center since it opened last fall. The center also offers membership plans for faculty and staff.
