Linda Kibot, a nursing student from Cameroon, received one of the University’s advanced undergraduate research awards, through which she will be working with Tom Johnson of the Grand Forks Human Nutrition Research Center on the relationship between copper deficiency and vascular function.
Erica Renner, a May 2007 graduate in dietetics, received a 2007 Outstanding Dietetic Student Award for North Dakota from the American Dietetic Association.
Kristina Davis, a recent RAIN (Recruitment and Retention of American Indians into Nursing) B.S.N. graduate and member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa, was commissioned in the U.S. Public Health Service Commission Corps this summer. The Commission Corps is an elite team of more than 6,000 well-trained, highly qualified, public health professionals dedicated to delivering the nation’s disease prevention program.
Nursing senior Carissa Jahner ended her basketball career this past spring with 1,170 points. She was named North Central Conference Defensive Player of the Year three years in a row.
Russell LeFevre (B.S. ’57, M.S. ’58) was awarded an honorary degree at UND’s May commencement. Dr. LeFevre is currently president of IEEEUSA, a professional organization of more than 200,000 engineers. Dr. LeFevre is a physics graduate.
Kevin and Kelly Longie, second-year residents in the UND family medicine program, were recognized during the annual Doctors Day “Best of the Best” awards event at St. Alexis Medical Center in Bismarck. The twins received the “most helpful residents” award.

The National Association for Industrial Technology recognized the UND student chapter with the Outstanding Student Chapter award this past year. The chapter previously won the award in 2002. It is the only chapter known to have received this award twice.
