support

UND alumni are known for remembering their roots — and for giving back to their University and state. UND has one of the most successful foundations and alumni associations at any public college or university of its size.

Eternal Flame

Philanthropy has been a major focus of the Kupchella years. As resources become ever more scarce, universities have begun trying to fill the gap by increasing fundraising activities. And university presidents are spending more time on fundraising, including at UND.

Fundraising has also become a priority for the deans, all of whom have become more active in development work over the last decade. Many took advantage of a program initiated by President Kupchella to fund development officers who work closely with the University of North Dakota Alumni Association and UND Foundation.

The UND Foundation supports the University and students by raising money for scholarships, programs, new initiatives, endowed chairs, and other projects. Green Ladies
The Foundation is focusing its fundraising efforts on increasing our endowment in support of the goals of the University, including the ultimate goal of moving UND securely into the ranks of the top 100 doctoral research universities in the United States, and to do it in a sustainable way that will later enable UND to move into the top 50. With the support and energy of our alumni and friends — some of the most loyal and enthusiastic in the nation — we will reach our goals.

Alumni Foundation
The UND Alumni Association and UND Foundation have benefited from the experience and sound judgment of the highly successful individuals who have sat on its board of directors. Among them was former Gov. Ed Schafer, ’69, (lower right corner) who now serves in President George W. Bush’s Cabinet as the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture.

Page Family Marketing Center
A highly successful capital campaign by the College of Business and Public Administration led to the establishment of endowed chairs, more funds for student scholarships, and the construction of specialized facilities to provide state-of-the-art learning experiences. Among these is the Page Family Marketing Center. Gregory R. Page, a 1973 UND economics graduate, is the president, chairman of the board, and chief executive officer of Cargill, Inc., one of the nation’s largest privately owned businesses. Joining him and the Chamber of Commerce Top Hatters for the dedication are his wife, Cindy, and mother, Kit.

Adelphi Fountain

A bequest from the estate of the late Roy and Elnora (Hopper) Danley included funds to repair the 100-year-old Adelphi Fountain. The restoration work was carried out by John Colle Rogers, son of the late John H. Rogers, dean of UND’s College of Fine Arts from 1973 to 1985, and his collaborators, California sculptors Jenny Cole and Lorraine Fenaille.
