Petroleum Engineering Laboratary (PE Lab) was built to serve teaching, research, and consulting needs for the UND community, North Dakota, the Midwest, and elsewhere. The PE Lab is staffed by undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students in the fields of Geological Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Geology under the supervision of faculty members from the Geology and Geological Engineering Department. The PE Lab is equipped with cutting edge hardware and software for petrophysics measurement, core flooding experiment, reservoir characterization, reservoir simulation, geomechanics testing, and acoustic/seismic property determination.
The PE Lab RA positions are provided to our students to give them valuable experience in the practical application of methods, techniques, and up to date software and research procedures. Experience from the PE Lab will provide our students with hands-on skills in using the state of the art hardware and software to solve real world problems. This will not only provide an in-depth understanding of current techniques, but also build a seamless bridge for the students to their future career growth.
