Minutes of General Education Requirements Committee February 10

1. A meeting of the GER committee was held on Monday, February 10, in the Edna Twamley Room.  David Pierce presided.

2. Those present at the meeting were Carl Barrentine, Connie Borboa, Sara Hanhan, Mark Hoffmann, Wendelin Hume, Chuck Miller, Chuck Moretti, Dean Nichols, Lila Pedersen, David Pierce, Tom Rand and Tom Steen. Lana Rakow was also present.

3. Dr. Lana Rakow talked to the Committee about Experiential Learning Across the UND Curriculum, her report for the President and Provost. A copy of the report is attached to the original minutes. There was discussion. The Committee will discuss this again at a later meeting and get back to Dr. Rakow.

4. Minutes of the February 3 meeting. Tom Steen asked that Carl Barrentine’s name be added to #9, the Engl 221 motion. Tom Steen moved to approve the February 3 minutes as amended. The motion was voted upon and carried unanimously.

5. Mark Hoffmann, Tom Rand, and Tom Steen shared with the Committee their ideas for streamlining the revalidation process. There was discussion. The subcommittee will report again at the next meeting.

6. The meeting adjourned at 5:15 p.m.
