Minutes of General Education Requirements Committee February 16, 2007

 

1.      A meeting of the GER Committee was held on February 16, in Montgomery Hall room 20.

Matt Cavalli presided.

 

2.      Those present at the meeting were  Olaf Berwald, Matt Cavalli, Greg Gagnon, Birgit Hans, Devon Hansen, Sukhvarsh Jerath, Adam Kitzes, John LaDuke, Kathleen McLennan, Lana Rakow, David Yearwood, Ryan Zerr and Connie Borboa.

                                        

3.   Minutes February 8, 2007. Birgit Hans moved to approve the minutes. The motion was voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

4.   Ryan Zerr presented IT 322 for revalidation of arts and humanities general education requirements credit and moved approval. The motion was voted upon and carried unanimously. 

 

5.  David Yearwood, chair of the Technology Department, asked for a delay in revalidating IT 300.  Birgit Hans moved to carryover revalidation for IT 300 with the proviso data be submitted two months after course is next taught.  The motion was voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

6.  Greg Gannon presented Theatre Arts  130, 161, 250, 270, and 330 for revalidation of arts and humanities general education requirements credit and moved to carryover revalidation with the proviso direct assessment data be submitted two months after course is next taught. The motion was voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

7.  Ryan Zerr presented Honors 101 and 391 for revalidation of arts and humanities general education requirements credit; Honors 392 for revalidation of social science general education requirements credit; and Honors 393 for revalidation of math, science and technology general education requirements credit and moved approval. The motion was voted upon and carried unanimously.  

 

Honors 291, 292, 102, 103 and 293. Ryan Zerr moved for an extension of submission of revalidation until two months after the courses have been taught. The motion was voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

8.  Ryan Zerr presented Religion 101 for revalidation of arts and humanities credit and world cultures and moved approval. The motion was voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

9. Philosophy 220 and 303. Ryan Zerr moved to send requests back to the department for additional information. The motion was voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

10.  Devon Hansen presented Biol 111 and 111L; Biol 150 and 150L; and Biol 151 and 151L for revalidations of math, science and technology general education credit and moved approval of all. The motion was voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

11. The meeting adjourned at 10:30 a.m.
