Minutes of General Education Requirements Committee April 18, 2008

 

1.      A meeting of the GER Committee was held on April 18, 2008, in Montgomery Hall, room 20. Ryan Zerr presided.

 

2.      Those present at the meeting were Suzanne Anderson, Joan Hawthorne, Sukhvarsh Jerath, Adam Kitzes, John La Duke, Don Poochigan, Ty Reese, Ryan Zerr and Connie Borboa.

                                        

3.    Minutes March 28.  Joan Hawthorne moved to approve the minutes. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.  

 

3.      Revalidations of Chemistry 115/115L; Chem 116/116L; Chem 121/121L; Chem 122/122L for Math, Science and Technology lab science credit.  Department requested Chemistry 110 be dropped from the general education list.  Ryan Zerr moved to approve the revalidations. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously. 

 

4.      Revalidations of Philosophy 300, 370, 408 and 470 (additional information needed) for Arts and Humanities credit; Rels 120, 230, 247, 301 for Arts and Humanities credit; Religion 203 and 315 for Arts and Humanities credit and World Cultures. Joan Hawthorne moved to approve all of the requests pending the receipt of necessary data.  The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

5.      Revalidation of Chemical Engineering 340 for Social Science credit. Joan Hawthorne moved to approve the request. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

6.      Revalidations of Geology 101L for Math, Science and Technology lab credit; Geology 103 and 111 for Math, Science and Technology credit.  Joan Hawthorne moved to approve all of the requests. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

7.      Validation of Geological Engineering 484 and 485 for Communication 3 Writing Intensive course.  Joan Hawthorne moved to approve the request.  The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

8.      Revalidations of Humanities 101 and 102 for Arts and Humanities credit; Humanities 224 and 225 for Social Science credit; Humanities 270 and 271 for Math, Science and Technology credit; Humanities 271L for Math, Science and Technology Lab science credit.  Joan Hawthorne moved to approve all of the requests.  The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

9.      Revalidation of Communication 102 for Social Science credit.  Adam Kitzes moved to approve the request. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

10.   Revalidations of Chinese 102 for Arts and Humanities and World Cultures credit; Indian Studies 171 for Social Science, Arts and Humanities credit and World Cultures; Indian Studies 311 for Math, Science and Technology credit and World Cultures; Honors 292 for Social Science credit; Civil Engineering 301 and 302 for Communication credit.  Ty Reese moved to approve all of the requests. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

11.  Revalidation of Chinese 101 for Arts and Humanities credit only.  Ty Reese moved to approve the request. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

12.   Next meeting will be May 2 at 9:00 a.m.

 

13.   Student petition for David Barbee.  Ty Reese moved to approve the petition. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

    

14.  The meeting adjourned at 4:15 p.m.
