Minutes of General Education Requirements Committee January 20, 2006

1. A meeting of the GER Committee was held on January 20 in Carnegie Hall, Room 102.

Anne Walker presided.

2. Those present at the meeting were Matt Cavalli, Joan Hawthorne, Wendelin Hume, Lana

Rakow, Ty Reese, Tom Steen, Gary Towne, Anne Walker, Ryan Zerr and Connie Borboa.

3. Anne Walker announced that Patrick Haertel will not be attending meetings this semester due to health reasons.

4. Minutes December 2, 2005. Joan Hawthorne moved to approve the minutes with the addition of Western Civilization to the advance placement credit in number 6 and to table the broader discussion of this issue for a future meeting. The motion was voted upon and approved with a vote of 6 in favor of and 1 opposed.

5. Meeting times were discussed. The committee will be meeting the following Fridays from 2:00 to 3:30: February 3 and 17, March 3 and 31, and April 21. Additional meetings may be added as needed.

6. There was discussion of having a general statement on general education course syllabi.

7. Assessment data form. Members were asked to review this form and respond to Anne Walker with any comments.

8. Meeting adjourned at 3:30 .
