Minutes of General
Education Requirements Committee
1. A meeting of the GER Committee was held on November 20 in Carnegie Hall, Room 102.
Matt Cavalli presided.
2. Those present at the meeting were Matt Cavalli, Jay Fisher, Birgit Hans, Joan Hawthorne,
Ryan Herrick, Wendelin Hume, Ty Reese, Gary Towne, Ryan Zerr and Connie Borboa.
3. Minutes
4. Student petition sub-committee. Ryan Zerr and Ty Reese volunteered to be on this committee with Anne Walker.
5. Writing/Speaking intensive course applications for Geology 484/485. Joan Hawthorne stated she and Gary had reviewed the courses and they met the writing/speaking requirements. Birgit Hans moved to approve one credit of Geol 484 and one credit of Geol 485 for communication general education credit. The motion was voted upon and carried unanimously.
6. There was discussion on tracking of general education goals and creating a goal inventory.
7. The committee divided the revalidation requests from last year and will pull out information for a general education matrix. This will be discussed at our next meeting.
