Minutes of General Education Requirements Committee December 2, 2005

 

1.      A meeting of the GER Committee was held on December 2 in Carnegie Hall, Room 102.     

Anne Walker presided.

 

2.      Those present at the meeting were Matt Cavalli, Jay Fisher,  Joan Hawthorne,

Ryan Herrick, Wendelin Hume, Patrick Luber, Lana Rakow, Ty Reese, Gary Towne, Anne Walker, Ryan Zerr and Connie Borboa.

                                        

3.   Minutes November 20, 2005. Jay Fisher moved to approve the minutes. The motion was voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

4.   The Committee was notified the Art Department will be submitting some requests for Arts and Humanities and World Culture credit.

 

5.  Math 105 and Math 146.  Gary Towne moved to allow the Math Department to turn in revalidations for Math 105 and 146 to the Registrar’s Office by August 16, 2006. The motion was voted upon and carried with a vote of 8 in favor of and 1 abstention.

 

6.  Request from Tom Rand regarding using Advanced Placement credit for World Cultures.  Matt Cavalli moved to approve Western Civilization Advanced Placement credit for World Cultures.  The motion was voted upon and carried with a vote of 8 in favor of and 2 opposed.

 

7. Committee structure will be looked at next semester.

 

8.  A review of assessment data form will be developed.

 

9.  The Committee was divided into two sub-groups as follows:

 

Committee re-structuring: Wendeline Hume, Ty Reese, Patrick Luber, Jay Fisher, Ryan Herrick, Birgit Hans, Matt Cavalli, Tom Steen

 

General Education Assessment forms: Joan Hawthorne, Lana Rakow, Ryan Zerr, Gary Towne

 

10.  New validation form.  Lana Rakow moved to approve the new form. The motion was voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

11.  Meeting adjourned at 3:30 .
