Minutes of General Education Requirements Committee November 4

1. A meeting of the GER committee was held on Monday, November 4, in the Carnegie Building Conference Room.  David Pierce presided.

2. Those present at the meeting were Carl Barrentine, Connie Borboa, Sara Hanhan, Mark Hoffmann, Wendelin Hume, Chuck Miller, Philip Parnell, David Pierce, Tom Rand, and Tom Steen.

3. Mntransfer curriculum – Philip Parnell reviewed the Minnesota General Education Transfer

curriculum acceptance proposal approved by the GER Committee March 1, 2002. Tom Rand moved to accept the Mntransfer curriculum for students who completed this curriculum during the fall semester 2001 or after. The motion was voted upon and approved unanimously.

4. Phys 161/161L and Phys 162/162L was reviewed for Math, Science and Technology general education requirements revalidation. David Pierce moved to approve the requests. The motion was voted upon and carried unanimously. David Pierce will contact the Physics Department regarding the GER goals.

5. Engl 370 was reviewed for Social Science general education requirements revalidation.

Anth 370 was reviewed for Social Science general education requirements revalidation.

The requests were tabled pending discussions between Sara Hanhan and course instructors.

6. The meeting adjourned at 4:30 p.m.
