Minutes of General Education Requirements Committee October 5, 2007

 

1.      A meeting of the GER Committee was held on October 5, 2007, in Montgomery Hall, room 20. Ryan Zerr presided.

 

2.      Those present at the meeting were Suzanne Anderson, Matt Cavalli, Devon Hansen, Sukhvarsh Jerath, John LaDuke, Chuck Moretti, Don Poochigian, Ty Reese, Lori Robison, Tom Steen, Ryan Zerr and Connie Borboa.

                                        

3.   Minutes September 21. John LaDuke moved to approve the minutes from September 21. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.   

 

4.   Review of the updated Essential Studies Transition Task, Duties and Dates list. John LaDuke moved to approve the list. The motion was seconded, voted upon and passed with a vote of 7 in favor of and 1 abstention.

 

5.   John LaDuke moved to remove the composite statement describing the relationship between the GER and the Essential Studies Steering Committees from the table. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

There was a vote on the approval of the composite statement.  Approval failed.

 

6.  Forming subcommittees to work on special emphasis course definitions/criteria.  Contact Ryan Zerr or Joan Hawthorne if you would like to volunteer.

 

7.  General Education Transition Summit revalidation session. Question and answer session will be from 3 to 4 on October 19.  Ryan Zerr will compile a list of frequently asked questions and send out to the committee members for review. 

 

8.  Please think about Chair-elect.  This will be brought up at a future meeting.

 

9.  Revalidations.  Please let Ryan Zerr know when your subcommittee has revalidations ready to be heard so he can add them to the agenda.

 

10.  Next meeting will be in three weeks.

 

11.  The meeting adjourned at 4:00 p.m.
