Minutes of General Education Requirements Committee April 8, 2005

 

1.      A meeting of the GER Committee was held on April 8, in Carnegie Hall room 102. Wendelin Hume presided.

 

2.      Those present at the meeting were Matt Cavalli, Joan Hawthorne, Wendelin Hume, Tom Rand, Tom Steen, Gary Towne, Anne Walker, and Connie Borboa.

                                        

3.      Minutes from April 1 meeting were approved.

 

4.      Math 405 for one-time revalidation.  Gary Towne moved to approve the request. The motion was voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

5.   Political Science 310 new course validation.  Tom Rand moved to approve the course. The

      motion was voted upon and carried unanimously. The department will be asked for a brief

      statement describing their plan for direct assessment.

 

6.   Revalidations for Fine Arts and Music.  FA 150 for arts and humanities general education

      credit. Musc 100, 101, 153, 260, 261, 263, 264, 270, 271, 272, 273, and 275 for arts and

      humanities general education credit; Musc 203 for arts and humanities general education

      credit and world cultures; and Musc 180 for social science general education credit. Tom

      Rand moved to approve the requests.  The motion was voted upon and carried with one

      abstention.

 

      Musc 253, 274, 276 and 277 for arts and humanities general education credit. Tom Rand

      moved to approve. The motion was voted upon and carried with one abstention. The

     department will be strongly encouraged to turn in assessment data when available.

 

7.  The next meeting will be April 22 at 10:00 a.m.
