Course Work
Only the courses listed in the Graduate section
of this catalog may be used as part of the
major or minor for a degree program. Classes
numbered 500 or higher are graduate classes;
those listed with 300 and 400 numbers are upper
division undergraduate classes which have been
approved for graduate credit by the University
Graduate Committee on the basis that additional
work will be required of all graduate students
in such courses.
Classes numbered 300 and higher listed only in
the Undergraduate section of this catalog may
be applied to a cognate area.

Graduate
Faculty
The faculty listed in the departments are members
of the Graduate Faculty. Full members of the
graduate faculty may act as chairs of a student’s
Faculty Advisory Committee, serve as principal
supervisors for thesis or dissertation research,
and be responsible for the advising of students.
Associate members may also serve as principal
supervisors for thesis research, be responsible
for the advising of students, and chair a doctoral
student’s faculty advisory committee and
direct the dissertation research if approved
by the Dean of the Graduate School and is under
the direction of a mentor appointed by the Dean
of the Graduate School. Assistant members may
serve as principal supervisors for scholarly
projects (excluding dissertations) and be responsible
for the advising of such students in their programs.
