Minutes of the University Curriculum Committee

February 16, 2005 

 

1. A meeting of the University Curriculum Committee was held on Wednesday, February 16, Room 404, Twamley Hall.  Chuck Moretti presided. Those present were Connie Borboa, Mary Cutler, Mary Drewes, Connie Gagelin, Jim Haskins, Roxanne Hurley, Nancy Krogh, Chuck Moretti, David Relling, and Sandra Short.

 

2. Minutes of February 9 meeting.  Chuck Moretti moved to approve the minutes

from the February 9 meeting.  The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried

unanimously.  

 

3. Chuck Moretti presented B.S. in Mechanical Engineering change in program

requirements; ME 101, 201, 323L, 477 new course requests; ME 203, 311, 486

course deletion requests; ME 313, 323, 324, 341, 342, 418, 426, 429, 446, 451,

480 course change requests and moved approval of all of the requests. The motion

was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

4. Chuck Moretti presented B.S. in Civil Engineering change in program

requirements; CIEN 101, 301, 302 new course requests; CIEN 412, 421 course

change requests; CIEN 303, 412L, 423L course deletion requests and moved

approval of all of the requests. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried

unanimously.

 

5. Jim Haskins moved to remove CSci 120 and 170 from the table.  The motion

was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

Jim Haskins presented CSci 120 and 170 course change requests and moved approval

of both. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

6. Jim Haskins presented Fin 316 course change request and moved approval.  The

motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.   

 

7. Jim Haskins presented B.S. in Occupational Safety and Environmental Health change in program requirements request and OSEH 465 new course request and moved to table the request pending the receipt of additional information.

 

8. David Relling presented SPST 438 new course request and SPST 451 and 491 course change requests and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

9. David Relling presented T&L 431 course deletion request and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

10. David Relling presented Dept of Teaching and Learning request to remove the Team prerequisites from Art 460, MUSC 243, 443 and 449 and PEXS 305 and moved approval of all.  The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

11. Sandra Short presented Recreation and Leisure Services change in program requirements request and RLS 421 new course request and moved approval of both.  The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

12. Sandra Short presented the Gerontology minor change in program requirements request; SWK 311 course change requests; SWK 312, 314 new course requests; SWK 313 new course request/354 course deletion; SWK 315 new course request/410 course deletion.

 

Sandra Short moved to approve the Gerontology minor change in program requirements request.  The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.  Sandra Short will contact Social Work regarding the title change for Gerontology and the paperwork that needs to be submitted for that request and also ask the department to notify the Philosophy department regarding the change in program requirements for the gerontology minor.

 

Sandra Short moved to approve SWK 313 new course request/354 course deletion request; SWK 315 new course request/410 course deletion request; SWK 312, 314 new course requests; and SWK 311 course change request.  The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried with a vote of 6 in favor of and 1 against.

 

13. Sandra Short presented M.ED in Educational Leadership change in program requirements request; EDL 513, 514, 520, 521 and 522 course change requests; and EDL 519 new course request.  Chuck Moretti moved to table the requests pending the receipt of additional information. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

14. Mary Cutler presented M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology change in program requirements request; CSD 532, 552, 562, 583 course change requests; CSD 535 deletion request; and CSD 553 new course request.  Mary Cutler moved approval of all of the requests with the stipulation that a memorandum be sent to the Office of the Registrar concerning resources.  The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

15. Mary Cutler presented Math 512, 513, and 542 course change requests and moved approval of all.  The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

16. Mary Cutler presented Comm 591 course change request and moved approval pending clarification on the course credits.  The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

17. The meeting adjourned at 5:30.
