Minutes of the University Curriculum Committee

 

February 19, 2009

 

1. A meeting of the University Curriculum Committee was held on Thursday, February 19, Twamley Hall, Room 305. Charlie Robertson presided. Those present were Suzanne Anderson, Connie Borboa, Kate Campbell, Mary Drewes, Connie Gagelin, Bonni Gourneau, Devon Hansen, Naima Kaabouch, Mary Riske, Charlie Robertson, and Liz Tyree. Guest: Martin Gottschalk

 

2. Minutes January 29. Devon Hansen moved to approve the minutes. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried with one abstention.

 

3. B.S./M.S. in Computer Science combined degree program change in requirements request was removed from the table. Charlie Robertson moved to approve the request. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

4. Naima Kaabouch presented Chemical Engineering 201, 303, 421, 331, 332, 340 course change requests; ChE 333 course deletion request; ChE 315, 420 new course requests and B.S. ChE change in program requirements requests (2) and moved approval of all. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

5. Naima Kaabouch presented M.S. in Chemical Engineering change in program requirements and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

6. Naima Kaabouch presented Certificate in Environmental Engineering change in program requirements request and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

7. Naima Kaabouch presented Geology 106 new course request and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

8. Naima Kaabouch presented EE 480 and 481 course change requests and Electrical Engineering change in program requirements request and moved approval of all. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

9. Naima Kaabouch presented CIEN 202 new course request and Civil Engineering change in program requirements request and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

10. Bonni Gourneau presented B.S. Ed with Combined Major in Elementary Education and Early Childhood major termination and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

11. Bonni Gourneau presented UND Undergraduate Teacher Education change in program requirements request and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.  

 

12. Bonni Gourneau presented Title change for Chemical Use/Abuse Awareness minor; B.S. in Social Work change in program requirements request; SWk 311, 317, 357, 424, 434, 454, 481, 483, 489, and 493 and moved approval of all. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

13. Bonni Gourneau presented T&L 517 and 532 course deletion requests; T&L 524, 530, 531, 533, 534, 536 and 583 course change requests; T&L 525, 523 and 528 new course requests; and M.S. and M.ED. Reading Education change in program requirements requests and moved approval of all. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

14. Devon Hansen presented B.A. in English: Teacher Licensure change in program requirements request and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

15. Devon Hansen presented Language 101, 102, 201 and 202 new course requests and moved to disapprove all of the requests. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

16. Charlie Robertson presented B.S. in Aeronautics with a major in Unmanned Aircraft Systems Operations new academic program request and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

17. Kate Campbell presented:

BBA in Aviation Management and BBA in Airport Management change in program requirements request;

B.S in Industrial Technology, B.S.I.T. Technology Teacher Certificate, and B.S. Graphic Design Technology change in program requirements requests;

Finance 340 course change request;

B.B.A. with major in Operations and Supply Chain Management and B.B.A. with major in Management change in program requirements requests and Mgmt 433 course change request;

Econ 524 course change request;

M.S. Industrial Technology change in program requirements request and moved approval of all. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

18. Devon Hansen presented CSD 536 course change request and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

19. Devon Hansen presented MA in Counseling change in program requirements request; Coun 531 and 533 course deletion requests; Coun 581, 589 course change requests; Coun 526 and 527 new course requests and moved approval of all. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

20. Mary Riske presented Educational Leadership M.S. Higher Education Emphasis and Educational Leadership M.Ed. P-12 emphasis change in program requirements requests; EDL 501, 511, 513, 514, 515, 516, 520, 521, 522, 523, 535, 536 and 537 course change requests; and EDL 538 and 556 new course requests and move approval of all. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

21. Mary Riske presented Clinical Psychology and General-Experimental Ph.D. programs change in program requirements request and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

 

 

 

 

22. Charlie Robertson presented M.S. Space Studies change in program requirements request; SpSt 505, 512, 528, 529 and 581 new course requests; SpSt 538 course deletion request; SpSt 502, 522, 523 and 526 course change requests; SpSt 405 and 420 (Grad Catalog section update) and moved approval of all. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

23. Liz Tyree presented CSci 250 course deletion request; CSci 230 new course request; CSci 327, 365, 370, 465 course change requests; B.S. in Computer Science, B.A. in Computer Science, Network and Operating Systems Analysis Specialization (2) change in program requirements requests; CSci 289 course change request; CSci 130 new course request; Computer Science Minor change in program requirements request; CSci 161 course change request; CSci 351 course deletion request; Network and Operating Systems Analysis Specialization change in program requirements request; CSci 260, 457 course change requests; CSci 384, 445, 446, 448, 451, 455, 463 course change requests

and moved approval of the packet. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

24. Charlie Robertson presented Avit 260, 346, 403, 405, 407, 490, 428, 491 course change requests; Avit 402 course deletion request; B.S.A. with major in Commercial Aviation change in program requirements request; B.S.A with major in Air Traffic Control change in program requirements request; B.S.A. with major in Flight Education change in program requirements request and moved approval of all. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

The following requests were added to the February 19 agenda.

 

25. Biology Graduate Program change in program requirements request. Charlie Robertson moved to approve the request. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

26. Kate Campbell presented Econ 504 and 575 course change requests and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.
