with payment in full due by September
7, 2007. Students whose awarded financial aid may not
be available by September 7 may request a payment deferment
from the Business Office. Payment deferment forms are
at http://www.und.edu/dept/busoff/html/studentform.htm.
Fee
Payment and Financial Aid Distribution: Available
financial aid will be applied to the student accounts
beginning August 31. Any excess aid will be disbursed
to students either as an electronic direct deposit to
the student’s designated account or mailed to the
student’s home address. UND encourages students
to authorize direct deposit for their excess aid and
other refunds as it is the quickest and safest option.
The Direct Deposit authorization form can be found at
www.und.edu/dept/busoff/html/studentform. Students who
prefer to have their excess aid mailed should verify
and update their home address through Campus Connection
to ensure their check is sent to the correct address.
Students can access Campus Connection at http://www.und.nodak.edu/dept/registrar/campusconnection/index.htm
The Business Office no longer sends monthly billing statements.
However, students are responsible to pay their account
by the August 21, 2007 deadline. A monthly e-mail notification,
using U-Mail, will be sent to all registered students who
have a balance due, advising them to review their campus
connection account and send payment to the Business Office.
If you have not activated U-Mail account, go to http://www.und.edu/dept/itss/email.html
Students may pay by mail or in person at the teller windows,
second floor, Twamley Hall. Payment to the University may
be made by cash, check, or credit card. Graduate teaching
assistants, research assistants, and service assistants
have their tuition waived, but are responsible for paying
their fees by the August 21, 2007 deadline.
All balances due must be paid by Aug.. 31, 2007 unless a deferment is arranged
with the Business Office. A late payment penalty of $200 will be assessed all
students who have not paid their tuition/fees or received a deferment by the
Aug. 31 deadline. Students who have not paid their tuition and fees by 3:30 PM
Sept. 7 are subject to cancellation of their registration unless special arrangements
are made with the Business Office. Students who have received a tuition deferment
will not be cancelled from school for nonpayment of tuition/fees and will assume
the financial obligation of their University charges.
Entrance Loan Counseling: Students
receiving a loan for the first time at UND are required to complete
Entrance Counseling prior to receiving their loan. Entrance
Loan Counseling is available on the internet at www.financialaid.und.edu/.
University Bookstore Charging: Students
receiving financial aid are eligible to charge their books, school
supplies, and backpacks at the University Bookstore August 17,
2007 through August 23, 2007. There is a minimum charge of $10.
Students are required to present their student ID card.
Refunds for book returns will be credited to the student’s
University account. All University Bookstore charges not covered
by financial aid must be paid in full at fee payment. Contact
the University Bookstore at (701) 777-2746 if you have questions.
Refunds for Students Formally Withdrawing
from the University: The
amount of unearned institutional charges based on the student’s
withdrawal date. The following schedule shall be used to establish
the percentage
of unearned institutional
charges to the sixty percent point in the enrollment period:
Percent of Enrollment Period Completed
(Actual calendar days including weekends) |
Tuition and Fees Unearned |
0-8.999% |
100% |
9.000%-34.999% |
75% |
35.000%-59.999% |
50% |
60.000%-100.000% |
0% |
If a student
awarded financial aid receives a tuition refund, the refund
will be applied to the financial aid, not issued to the student.
Refunds for Class Changes (Drop/Add): Students
dropping a class before 9% of the period of enrollment for
the class is completed shall receive a 100% refund of tuition
and fees for the credit hours attributable to the class or
classes dropped. There shall be no refunds for partial drops
after completion of 9% of the period of enrollment. However,
classes of the same number of credits may be substituted
for the dropped class at no additional tuition and fee charge,
unless the added class requires a special fee or change in
tuition. Correspondence and collaborative courses do not
qualify for the substitution.
Repayment of Financial Aid: Repayment
of financial aid may have to be made if you officially or unofficially withdraw
from the University. If withdrawal is before the first day of classes, or
if you fail to pay tuition, all cash disbursements are overpayments and must
be repaid in full. If the withdrawal is on or after the first day of classes,
the University will determine the amount of “unearned aid” to
be repaid according to a Federal formula.
To officially withdraw, students must complete a Withdrawal Form at the Office
of the Registrar, 201 Twamley Hall. If a student does not officially withdraw,
the unofficial withdrawal date will be the student’s last documented
date of attendance or the midpoint of the semester, whichever is later.
Residency Requirements: Eligibility
for resident student status is a technical matter that is controlled by a
special North Dakota law and State Board of Higher Education guidelines.
Students whose eligibility may be open to question, especially those who
have moved to North Dakota from another state, should become familiar with
these guidelines and their requirements regarding place of residence, voting,
driver’s licenses, auto licenses, state income tax filing, etc. Copies
of the guidelines are available at the Business Office, Twamley Hall.
Fall semester residency affidavits must be submitted to the Business Office
by Sept. 20, 2007.
Minnesota Reciprocity: Minnesota
students may be required to apply for reciprocity. The application is available
online at www.mheso.state.mn.us/ . Until reciprocity is granted,
students are required to pay nonresident tuition.
Third Party Payments: Students
relying on third party payments (eg. Voc. Rehab.) for tuition are advised
to submit necessary authorization to the Business Office as soon as possible.
If authorization is not received prior to Aug. 17, other financial aid may
be applied to tuition.
AMS Contract Students: Students
contracting with Academic Management Services should only budget for costs
exceeding their financial aid award because
most types of financial aid will be applied directly against the amounts
owed the University.
Financial Aid Credit Hour Enrollment Requirements: Financial
aid awards are based upon the assumpti9on of full-time enrollment.
If your actual enrollment is different, your financial aid eligibility
may be affected. Financial aid disbursement is based on your actual enrollment
as of the census date (8th instructional day), August 29, 2007..
Financial Aid Holds: Financial Aid will be released once all financial aid
holds (eg. verification is not complete, not maintaining satisfactory progress)
have been removed if eligibility has been maintained.
Undergraduate with a Baccalaureate Degree: Undergraduate
students who have a baccalaureate degree are not eligible to receive a PELL
Grant, AC Grant, SMART Grant, SEOG Grant,
or ND State Grant.
Veterans: Students who wish to initiate or continue receiving VA educational
assistance benefits must report to room 211 Twamley Hall, 777-3363. Students
must bring a copy of their class schedules to the office.
Exit Loan Counseling: If the
Fall semester will be your last term at UND, you must complete exit loan
counseling, if you have ever received a student
loan. The loan counseling requirements must be completed on the internet.
A link to a loan counseling web site is available on the UND Student Financial
Aid Home Page: www.financialaid.und.edu/.
