INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS:
Cancellation/Withdrawal from the University
'

Follow these Steps to Cancel/Withdraw

CANCELLATION OF EARLY REGISTRATION.  Cancellation of early registration prior to the beginning of the semester is the student's responsibility. Students may officially cancel their registration before the first day of the semester by writing a brief letter to the Office of the Registrar requesting a cancellation or by completing a Registration Cancellation Form. The date of the official cancellation will be the date the student's letter is received by the Office of the Registrar. Students should check with the Office of the Registrar to verify the receipt of any type of cancellation.

OFFICIAL WITHDRAWAL.  Beginning the first day of class, students withdrawing from all coursework must complete a Withdrawal Form at the Office of the Registrar, Room 201, Twamley Hall. Personnel will direct the student through the withdrawal process.

The last day a student may cancel registration without grades is the Friday five weeks preceding the last class day of the term. (See also Summer Sessions deadlines). After that time a student should continue classes to completion. An exception to this rule is that a student may have his or her registration canceled without grades for cause (major mental or physical illness or other significant incapacity) providing both the student’s Academic Dean and the Associate Vice President for Student Services agree to this course of action. Please note: Anytime a student withdraws after the first 10 days of the semester, a “W” indicating the withdrawal will appear on the student’s transcript. All courses in which the student was enrolled on the first day of the term will be considered when assessing satisfactory progress for financial aid purposes.

A student who leaves the University without obtaining an official withdrawal is given an ‘‘F’’ in all courses.

For further information regarding refunds for withdrawals please go to Student Account Services

COURSE WITHDRAWAL.  Course withdrawal is the process used to withdraw from (drop) one or more courses (but not all courses) for which a student is registered for the semester.  Follow the procedures for change of registration by going to the Schedule of Courses, selecting the term in which you would like to withdraw and following the Registration link on the left menu bar for instructions.
