RESOURCES AVAILABLE AT UND FOR HELPING DISTRESSED AND DISRUPTIVE STUDENTS
UND uses the Suicide Intervention Team (SIT) protocol which requires a student to be assessed at the Counseling Center if the student exhibits suicide ideation.
Consistent with Family Educational Right to Privacy Act (FERPA), the Dean of Students (DOS) and Housing offices involve parents when students under 21 threaten or engage in self-harm.
In situations where student behavioral issues are unresolved, a Behavior Evaluation Committee is initiated by the Dean of Students. Per the expectations included in the CODE, a threat assessment is conducted by convening faculty/staff, Dean of Students Office, Counseling Center, University Police and others. These meetings can be convened on very short notice and often within hours.
The Crisis Coordination Team, Dean of Students staff and night call graduate student assistants provide crisis response 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Campus Life and Safety Team (CLAST) meetings are held every Monday morning to ensure we are working together across departments.
